Deputy Chief Dave Goldrich retired from the Jersey City Police Department after a twenty-five year law enforcement career, retiring in 2020, at the rank of Deputy Police Chief.

Deputy Police Chief: Deputy Chief Goldrich worked the Patrol Bureau/City Command serving as the operational manager of the Police Department during the busiest periods on the evening and midnight tours. In this position Deputy Chief Goldrich reported directly to the Chief of Police.

Captain: Deputy Chief Goldrich served in City-Command overseeing response to various major events requiring coordination of initial response and investigative efforts. Served as the Officer in Charge of the Department in the absence of the Deputy Police Chief.

Lieutenant: As a lieutenant Deputy Chief Goldrich supervised up to one-hundred officers in various police districts as the Tour Commander and as the Patrol Lieutenant. During his time as a Tour Commander and a Patrol Lieutenant Deputy Chief Goldrich consistently responded to Domestic Violence incidents as well as Child Custody Disputes making decisions on these and other serious criminal matters. Deputy Chief Goldrich routinely interacted with the Division of Youth and Family Services (DCPP) and other outside agencies.

Deputy Chief Goldrich served as the Executive Officer and second in command of the the very diverse East District situated on the waterfront of Jersey City.

As a lieutenant Deputy Chief Goldrich was also assigned to the Office of the Chief as well as the Juvenile Investigations Bureau where he oversaw all juvenile complaints and their disposition. Sergeant: Served as Patrol Sergeant throughout the city as well as spending time supervising the Central Communications Bureau. As a sergeant, David spent several years Supervising the Central Communications Bureau which included call intake and radio car dispatch as well as coordination with other law enforcement agencies and public entities both within and outside of New Jersey.

Police Officer: Upon having graduated the New Jersey State Police Academy, Deputy Chief Goldrich was assigned to the Patrol Division – South Precinct as a neighborhood task force Officer. Under Community policing, Officer Goldrich was responsible for policing which focused on building ties and working closely with members of the communities.

While working in the South District one of New Jersey’s busiest police districts, Officer Goldrich gained extensive surveillance experience working plainclothes with the Narcotics task force investigating complex street level narcotics and financial crimes.
